The TIP-LITE is a lightweight thermal marker, designed for the individual dismounted warrior. This new panel is one-quarter the size of the previous standard TIP panels, but has the same visual and thermal characteristics. These smaller panels are intended for issue to each member of a combat team. Used individually, they provide excellent signaling at ranges out to 1,000 meters. For longer range signaling, several panels may be used in predesignated configurations to signal airborne weapon systems equipped with thermal targeting sensors.
